Booking & contact

Let's write your day.

Dates go quickly — especially summer Saturdays. Tell me your date and your venue (or your best guess at either), and I'll come back to you within a couple of days. No hard sell, ever — just a blether about the day you actually want. I'm a Humanist Society Scotland celebrant, so your ceremony — handfasting and all, if you fancy it — is fully legally binding anywhere in Scotland.

Quick answers

Asked at every tasting table.

Are humanist weddings legally binding?

Completely. As a Humanist Society Scotland celebrant I'm legally authorised to marry you — the ceremony itself is the legal marriage, wherever it happens. No registry office visit needed. The paperwork guide covers the few forms involved.

Where will you travel?

Anywhere in Scotland — I'm based between Glasgow's West End and Loch Lomond, and I've married couples everywhere from Merchant City courtrooms to Hebridean beaches. Islands very much included.

How far ahead should we enquire?

Popular summer Saturdays go 12–18 months out, so earlier is safer — but short-notice weddings and elopements are often possible. It costs nothing to ask about your date.

What happens after we get in touch?

I reply within 48 hours. If I'm free on your date, we have a no-pressure blether — in person or on a call — about the day you want. Only then, if it feels right, do you book: you secure the date through Humanist Society Scotland, naming me as your celebrant.

Can we include a handfasting, family, or the dog?

Please do. Handfastings, a quaich, readings by your people, weans as ring-bearers, dugs as best man — if it means something to you, it belongs in the ceremony.

What does it cost?

My charges range from £550, which includes two years' membership of Humanist Society Scotland. Travel is agreed up front — no surprise extras, no weekend surcharge. The full cost guide breaks it all down.

01 — We meet

A cuppa or a call

We start with a relaxed chat — in person or on a call. You do the talking; I'll ask the questions nobody else asks. By the end you'll know exactly what I'd do with your day.

02 — I write

Your story, drafted till it's right

I write your ceremony from scratch — your story, your humour, your people in it. You read every word before the day, and we shape it together until it's unmistakably yours.

03 — You marry

Anywhere in Scotland

Humanist ceremonies are legally binding in Scotland — on a beach, up a hill, in a bothy or your back garden. I handle the formal bits; you handle the dancing.
